At ICI - Instituto Cultural IDIOMA, students are given maximum cultural exposure in order to ensure their Portuguese language skills and understanding of Brazilian culture develops rapidly. This includes providing students with an exchange program so that they can meet local people and practice their Portuguese, in exchange for assisting them with their English. Lessons focus on students' ability to communicate in normal everyday situations in Brazil, with grammar being taught within this context to help students to engage with what they are learning.
The school is located in a spacious two storey modern building in Barra, a safe and secure neighborhood in Salvador by the coast. It is spread over two levels with space to relax and well equipped classes. The school is just five minutes from the Farol da Barra beach. From here you can also access the picturesque Pelourinho neighborhood, just 20 minutes away on public transport.
Each week, ICI provides students with cultural activities and trips to help them to get to know the area and enjoy everything the city has to offer. This may include going to local festivals, visiting markets and museums and cycling in the countryside. The school also provides some workshops to help students to understand important aspects of Brazilian culture and communication, including introductions to samba and capoeira.
